GENERAL ENGINEERING STUDIES

EPF's general engineering programme teaches future engineers the qualities they will need in the professional world: an open mind, cultural mobility, and the capacity to adapt to their first job and throughout their career.

The general engineering programme is divided into two parts: the general curriculum and the major.
The general curriculum is the equivalent of an in-depth preparatory course and gives students an initial look at the different possible majors and helps them determine their course of study according to their preferences and competencies.

EPF'S GENERAL TRAINING PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH A SOLID FOUNDATION

EPF's core curriculum covers practically every field of engineering, including aeronautics, business engineering, telecommunications, construction, the environment, bio-systems engineering, computing, production, and industrial logistics. EPF trains well-rounded engineers who have a broader, more cross-disciplinary vision of their profession and who can adjust more easily to the market's needs.

This scientific, technical post-secondary programme also includes courses on varied aspects of the business world: administrative, legal, economic and human issues, plus staff development: working methods, self-awareness, and communication.

EPF'S TEACHING METHODS

ACQUIRING AND DEVELOPING KNOWLEDGE

During the first 2 years, students build a foundation of scientific and human knowledge that will serve their skills as engineers.

The general curriculum is based on:

  • secondary preparatory coursework (basic sciences and engineering sciences),
  • mastering basic engineering sciences.

It also includes two foreign languages and an introduction to business before the first internship.

From the 3rd year, there is a twofold objective: consolidating the general foundation and transitioning towards the student's major.

From the student's 4th year, EPF offers several different majors: Aeronautics, Biology and Medicine, Environment, Civil Engineering, IT, Telecommunications, Mechanics, Materials, Business Engineering, etc.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE ABROAD

The required experience abroad, of at least one semester, gives students a "different" look at their field through work or study abroad. It gives students richer personal and relational experience. In addition to improved language skills and the benefits of a new cultural experience, it teaches students different ways of thinking and living, in different educational and professional situations. This experience teaches them to be open to others, mobile and mentally flexible, which are great advantages in the workplace. Workers today cannot fully adjust to the business environment without experiencing another culture's professional or educational system.
